It’s no secret that I live with a chronic illness, that loves to play tricks on me. It changes form from one minute to the next. It mocks me. It tricks me. It surprises me. I never know what it has rolled up its sleeve.
The weather has taken on the guise of my illness. In one day, it can change from sunny and mild to cloudy and cold. These two photographs were taken on the same day. Trickery and surprise can be a beautiful thing.

Interesting about perception — I often think of how I view things depending on how I’m feeling. I love the way these two photographs demonstrate how perceptions can be altered. Hope you’re feeling better, Jane. I’ve developed a minor case of carpal tunnel, but minor though it may be it’s driving me crazy and I find myself snapping at people when I don’t mean to. Chronic illnesses are most insidious, I think, in how they affect a person’s emotional status. Stay strong, my friend! 🙂

Perception is key in everything. You need to rest that wrist before it gets worse. Any physical pain can alter our moods. So, I have my good and bad days. I took up photography because it takes my mind off of pain while I walk. I am so busy looking for things to shoot that I think of nothing else. xoxo

That is a great idea (photographing to take your mind off pain). I agree that we can to a great extent control the way we perceive things. Yesterday Tosha said that she writes “dark” to let the “light” in and I’d have to agree that’s what I do, too. My “paper perceptions” may appear pessimistic, but really I’m not. 🙂

YES!! When I first started taking photos, I focused on flowers, leaves etc. Then, for whatever reason, I was drawn to the unusual and dark. So, many of my recent photos seem to come from a depressed dark place, but…..it’s all about perception 😉
